Birds of Syria

About 400 species of birds live in Syria. The country has several arid habitats like xeric grasslands and shrub deserts, so most of the birds in the nation are migrants. These avian species visit the northern part of the country, where salt lakes form during the summer.

Some notable avifauna in Syria include the Syrian Serin, the Griffon Vulture, and the Syrian Woodpecker.
