Birds of Cambodia

Cambodia is home to over 500 birds in its seasonal tropical forests. However, the country also has the highest rate of deforestation, so most of the birds living there are at risk. Noted rare species include the Cambodian Tailorbird, the Chestnut-headed Partridge, and the Giant Ibis.

The last one is special as it is also the national bird of Cambodia. It is a large wading bird isolated primarily in northern Cambodia. However, with only 3.1% of the nation’s forests left, without immediate action to safeguard it, this bird – and others like it – may go extinct.
