Birds of Egypt

There are about 500 species of birds in Egypt. The country is known for its diverse birdlife, thanks to its geographical location and varied habitats, including the Nile River, deserts, and coastal areas.

The Steppe Eagle is the national bird of Egypt and is even included on the Egyptian flag. Other notable species include the Egyptian Vulture, the Nile Delta Sunbird, and the Sinai Rosefinch.

Some of the best birding sites in Egypt include Lake Qarun and Wadi El Rayan, the Nile Delta, and Hurghada and the Red Sea Coast. Migratory birds pass through the country during their annual journeys. The best time to see them is from March to May and September to November.
