Birds of Madagascar

There are over 300 species of birds living in the island nation of Madagascar. These birds live in the various habitats of the country, including dry deciduous forests, xeric shrublands, and spiny forests.

The Madagascar Fish Eagle is the country’s national bird. It is an endemic bird of prey, along with several other endemic avifauna, including the Blue Vanga, the White-breasted Mesite, and the Madagascar Green Pigeon.
