Birds of Uzbekistan

Over 400 avian species live in Uzbekistan. Once possessing a more diverse environment, decades of Soviet exploitation for growing cotton have led to the water and air becoming more polluted and less capable of supporting bird life. Despite this, the birds living here have adapted the best that they can.

Uzbekistan’s national bird is the White Stork. Other notable species include the Eurasian Magpie, the Common Starling, and the House Sparrow.
